Bribery

Tonight she refused dinner. She rejected the idea of a bath. In fact, she wanted nothing to do with our regular routine. So I bribed her. Is that so wrong?

The promise of paint convinced her to eat all of her dinner, take a bath, wash her hair without screaming bloody murder, and to kindly dress herself in layers of protective clothing so as to not undo the miracle that was the earlier bath.

Then we just let her paint. I’m not saying bribery is always a good thing, but tonight it gave me a clean kid and some cute artwork to frame.

With the giant smock on, the braided hair, and the headband, Matt thought she looked like she was about to go sing in a choir. I thought she was one pair of glasses away from being Abigail Breslin in Little Miss Sunshine.
