Happy Easter!

I love Christmas. I love the weather, the decorations, the songs. I love the sense of community and the emotions that run high. It’s by far my favorite season of the year. But Christmas is a long way away.

Right now my focus is on today. My favorite holiday- Easter. That’s right, even though it’s April, there’s no snow or hot chocolate, and my house isn’t decorated, I love Easter more than Christmas.

For me, Christmas and Easter have one major difference. Christmas is all about who and what was there 2000 years ago. Christmas is about Jesus being in the manger. It’s about following those stars and finding Him exactly where He was expected to be found.

But Easter, Easter is about who and what wasn’t there. Easter is about rejoicing in the fact that Jesus wasn’t in the tomb. It’s about the joy of not finding Him where He was expected to be found.

Today is a time of celebration. Eggs will be hunted, white shoes will make an appearance, and church pews will fill because Christ has risen and we are forgiven.

Matthew 28:2-6
(2) And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. (3) His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. (4) And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. (5) But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. (6) He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.”
